Counselling can be helpful from time to time. Seeking help is not failing or a sign of weakness. It is a tool that is available to you and your partner. A counsellor will help you use your own resources to deal with issues, process feelings, or find ways of improving your relationship. Counselling will normally have terms of confidentiality. You can ask the service provider to explain the terms of confidentiality to you.
Counselling may also be helpful if you find you are having difficulty supporting your child emotionally because there are other stresses in your life or from previous life experiences, such as trauma.
